Welcome to the Nurse's Office
Hello, my name is Jodi Galbraith.  I am the Corporation Nurse and the building nurse for the high school and middle school.  I have been a Registered Nurse for over 23 years.  My background includes Intensive Care/Progressive Care.  I am in my eighth year of working at Northwestern.  I love coming to work everyday and it is a joy to be able to care for all the students here at NWHS/MS.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

New Immunization Requirements 2010-2011
During the 2009 legislative session, Indiana Code 20-34-4-2 was revised, requiring the Indiana State Department of Health to "adopt rules under IC 4-22-2 to require school age children to receive additional immunizations against the following: Meningitis, Varicella, and Pertussis (whooping cough)."

Changes to the school immunization requirements for school year 2010-2011 are as follows:
  1. All kindergarten students will be required to have 2 doses of varicella vaccine, given on or after the first birthday and separated by 3 months, or physician documentation of chickenpox disease history.
  2. All kindergarten students will be required to have ONE of the required doses of polio vaccine given on or after the fourth birthday, and at least 6 months after the previous dose.
  3. All 6th-12th grade students will be required to have 2 doses of varicella vaccine, given on or after the first birthday, and separated by age-appropriate intervals as defined by the CDC, or parent/guardian documentation indicating history of disease, including month and year.
  4. All 6th-12th grade students will be required to have 1 dose Tdap (tetanus-diphtheria-acellular pertussis vaccine) given on or after the 10th birthday.
  5. All 6th -12th grade students will be required to have 1 dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4).
For children who have delayed immunizations, please refer to the 2010 CDC "Catch-up Immunization Schedule" or contact your physician.
